Job Description

We are looking for a sharp, positive-spirited Ruby on Rails expert to join our team. At Cloudnonic, we don’t do "boring." You’ll be working on client projects, each with its own quirks and technical challenges.

In this role, you are expected to be an AI-augmented architect. You will use tools like Claude Code to accelerate development, but we have zero tolerance for "vibe coding." We need someone who understands the "Rails Way" deeply—someone who knows when the AI is suggesting a "hack" versus a "convention." You aren’t just a coder; you are the guardian of the codebase. You will also spend a significant portion of your time performing high-level Code Reviews, ensuring that every PR (human or AI-assisted) meets our standards for performance and security.

What will help you succeed:

• The "Anti-Vibe" Mentality: You use AI to move 10x faster, but you have the technical depth to debug the most obscure Ruby gems or database locks without leaning on a prompt.
• AI Orchestration: Proficiency in Claude Code to generate migrations, refactor service objects, and scaffold features while maintaining a "trust but verify" mindset.
• Strong Code Review skills: You can spot a N+1 query or a security flaw in a PR from a mile away.
• Architectural Ownership: You’ll work directly with the CEO to design cost-effective, scalable architectures. You should feel comfortable suggesting a better way to do things.
• Communication: You’ll be in direct contact with global clients. We value the ability to explain complex technical trade-offs in a professional and friendly manner.
• Self-Starter: We are welcoming a self-starter and self-motivated engineer that can organize his/her day autonomously. We trust in you and your ability to prioritize tasks throughout the week and keep the team and clients updated along the way.

Requirements

Technical Skills:

• 2+ years of professional experience in Ruby on Rails (experience with Rails 6/7/8 preferred).
• Modern Rails Mastery: Deep knowledge of Hotwire (Turbo/Stimulus), Sidekiq/Solid Queue, and the latest Rails conventions.
• AI Integration: Proven ability to integrate Claude Code into your daily development cycle to increase velocity without sacrificing quality.
• Database Proficiency: Strong proficiency in PostgreSQL or MySQL. You must understand indexing, transactions, and how to optimize queries that an AI might write inefficiently.
• Testing: Experience with RSpec or Minitest. In an AI-driven world, your tests are your safety net; you must know how to write them effectively.
• Cloud & DevOps: Familiarity with AWS and deployment tools (e.g., Kamal, Docker, or Heroku).
• APIs: Experience building and maintaining robust RESTful APIs and handling JSON data.

Language Skills:

• Fluent Spanish.
• Advanced English (B2+): Ability to engage in client conversations and present technical progress with confidence.
