• Future-Focused: You understand where product design has been, you’re excellent at what it requires today, and you’re genuinely excited about where it’s headed. You’re constantly asking: Where are we going next?
• Tool Expert: You’re a Figma pro, and you’re comfortable rapid prototyping and vibe coding, testing new cutting edge tools and integrations (Claude <> Figma, etc.) and processes, and finding the right inputs for the right outputs.
• Systems Thinker: You understand the importance of brand and system design in the age of AI, can articulate its value with your peers in PDE, and are excited to collaborate on our design system with the other designers and with engineering.
• Ownership & Impact: You take ownership. Your curiosity and desire for impact keep you moving forward.
• Strategic Execution: You know when to speed up, and when to slow down. Your stakeholder and peer management is top tier. You can articulate why something needs extra love, and can strategize when speed is worth the risk.
• Thrives in Ambiguity: Ambiguity looks like opportunity to you. You don’t wait for someone else to give you the answer. Rolling up your sleeves with your PM and Eng team and figuring it out gives you energy.

WHAT YOU WILL OWN & IMPROVE:

• End-to-end design of product features and areas: You’ll own complex problem spaces from discovery through shipped execution. That means defining the problem, exploring the edges, testing ideas, collaborating tightly with PM and Engineering, and delivering thoughtful, polished work that meets Trainual’s bar for craft, clarity and ease of use.
• Clarity & simplicity for our users: Trainual as a product is powerful — your job is to make that power feel intuitive. You protect user focus, reduce friction, and simplify complexity without being asked.
• AI-driven experimentation: We believe AI is reshaping how products are designed and built. You’ll actively use tools like Claude, GPTs, and other emerging workflows to prototype faster, explore broader solution spaces, improve documentation and communication and enhance design quality without slowing down delivery. If there’s a smarter way to work, you’ll help us find it.
• Research & validation: You know when to follow your gut and experience, and when you need clear data and insights. You test. And it doesn’t hold you back, it’s your backbone for making smart, efficient decisions. You’ll independently plan and run user research, rapid experiments, and usability tests, synthesizing insights into real product decisions.
• Cross-functional partnership: You’ll partner deeply with Product and Engineering in PDE. You anticipate misalignment before it becomes friction. You communicate clearly. You influence without ego.

WHAT YOU ALREADY KNOW:

• 5+ years designing SaaS products (B2B experience a plus).
• Incredible UI and UX craft — you sweat the details and have a high bar for visual design.
• Deep experience with Figma (and you probably enjoy organizing it).
• Efficient Research: How to get user insights efficiently, and run insightful research and testing to get the answers that help you move forward and make impactful decisions.
• Broad Collaboration: How to collaborate across the board — from engineers to executives to creative marketers.
• Strategic Balance: How to balance fast iteration with long-term product vision.

ABOUT THE TEAM

You’ll report to our VP of Product Design, Liz Dube, and partner closely with our incredible Lead designer, Colin Baker. You will work closely with your Product Manager and Engineering squad.

Our design team is incredibly talented and curious, collaborative, high-trust, and serious about craft — while still leaving room for creative exploration and experimentation. We care deeply about quality, clarity, and continuous growth. And not for nothing, they love to have fun too.

The design team is mostly remote, but we are looking for someone who wants to collab in our office in Tempe 3+ days a week. We believe proximity builds momentum, especially as we evolve how we design and build together.

HYBRID:

We have an amazing office in Tempe right off Mill Ave. Team members in this role are expected to be in office at least 3 days per week, and you’re welcome to come in more often if you’d like!
