Engineering Operations Manager
About This Role
Company: Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. Job Area: Engineering Services Group, Engineering Services Group > Engineering Operations General Summary: The GPU PMO is seeking an Engineering Operations Manager (Staff) to own and scale GPU engineering operations across hardware and software development. This role strengthens the run‑the‑business operational engine and ensures the organization operates with high accuracy, audit‑ready rigor, and predictable financial and resource planning. This is a hands‑on Staff‑level role. While the position provides leadership and quality oversight, success is defined by direct ownership and execution of engineering operations deliverables—including financial forecasting, data validation, dashboarding, and operational workflows. Key Responsibilities Own GPU engineering operations end‑to‑end (Run‑the‑Business), including Opex/Capex planning, quarterly rolling forecasts, variance analysis, and operational governance. Serve as the primary operational interface with Finance, Business Units, and Engineering, owning quarterly rolling financial forecasts and ensuring alignment on funding assumptions, capacity constraints, and delivery impacts. Partner with Finance to translate operating plans into accurate forecasts, track burn vs. plan, and surface investment trade‑offs. Own quality and audit readiness for engineering operations by establishing validation routines, enforcing standards, and reviewing outputs produced by Engineering Operations Analysts. Maintain operational cadence and continuity, including monthly ops reporting, quarterly forecast refreshes, and stepping into execution when needed (e.g., Tempus HC updates, urgent adjustments). Drive operational insights through analytics by defining KPIs, improving signal quality, and delivering executive‑ready reporting. Partner with the Data Analyst to build and iterate dashboards using Power BI/Tableau, including rapid prototyping (“vibe coding”) where appropriate. Champion automation of recurring reporting and workflows to reduce manual effort and improve decision velocity. Oversee creation and maintenance of operational SOPs, playbooks, and onboarding assets (in partnership with the Technical Writer). Lead, mentor, and develop a small multidisciplinary team (staff‑level analysts, technical writer), fostering a culture of rigor, ownership, and collaboration. Skills Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Finance, or related field (or equivalent practical experience). 7+ years of experience in engineering operations, business operations, finance, or analytics within a complex, cross‑functional HW/SW environment. Demonstrated ownership of run‑the‑business operations, including financial planning, forecasting, variance analysis, and operational cadence. Strong financial operations acumen, with experience partnering directly with Finance, Engineering, and BUs on budgets, forecasts, and investment trade‑offs. Proven ability to own quality and audit readiness, including validation of operational data and enforcement of standards. Hands‑on analytical and reporting skills using Excel and BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) to deliver executive‑ready insights. Ability to operate effectively in a matrixed organization, influencing cross‑functional stakeholders. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate operational data into clear recommendations. Preferred Qualifications (Plus) Experience improving operational efficiency through automation, templates, workflows, or lightweight scripting. Exposure to GenAI or predictive analytics for trend detection, forecasting support, risk signaling, or operational summarization. Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Science, or related field and 5+ years of Engineering Operations or related work experience. OR Associate's degree and 7+ years of Engineering Operations or related work experience. OR High School Diploma or equivalent and 9+ years of Engineering Operations or related work experience.
