Product Manager, Beast Classroom Teacher Experience

Company: Inflection Point Learning
Location: Anywhere in the continental US, with ability to travel ~monthly to San Diego (where ~half of the team sits)

Overview

We’re an elementary math curriculum startup looking for a Product Manager who will set the vision for our teacher experience; drive a culture of rapid prototyping & iteration to discover the best solutions; and help develop the craft of product management in our young company. Read on to learn more!

Our Vision

Welcome to Beast Classroom, where teachers wake up every day excited to teach math. They know their lessons and activities will be perfectly adapted to engage their students, foster dialogue, and inspire deep thinking. They know their individual student assignments will be precisely tailored to delight and challenge. They know they will be free to navigate their classroom, equipped with insights and tools to guide and inspire students to excel in the face of an uncertain future.

Our Mission

At Beast, we’re on a mission to bring this experience to teachers in elementary schools everywhere. We’re building a K-5 math curriculum based on the beloved Beast Academy comic universe and the rigorous Art of Problem Solving pedagogy that has trained the world’s top math students for a generation.

Our Challenge

Schools are at a crossroads. The emergence of AI has not only impacted the art and craft of teaching, but has dramatically challenged the traditional goals for education. We are faced with key questions: how should technology be used in the classroom? What is the role of the teacher? What exactly do students need to learn these days?

Here are some things we believe:

  • Math, problem solving, reasoning, and dialogue will be critical skills for any future.
  • Teachers are essential, and they need more powerful tools to help them learn, plan, customize, and grade, so they can focus on what they love most: teaching.
  • The classroom will continue to be a sacred space where teachers and students learn and grow together, powered by the latest technology, but interacting in the most human ways.

Why We Need You

We have the pieces in place to face this challenge: a world-class curriculum, an enthusiastic and growing community of schools & educators, and mission-aligned backers committed to building a transformative solution. We've built a talented and driven remote-first team on a foundation of transparency, trust, collective ownership, and deep care – and now we’re ready to welcome a new product leader.

We need a Product Manager who is excited to dive into this rapidly changing, opportunity-rich landscape; who can imagine how a modern, powerful set of tools can help every teacher teach math; and who can lead a team to make this vision a reality.

Who You Are

  • You care deeply about teachers and their students. You believe that teachers are essential to the future of education, and you believe that every child deserves to be mathematically challenged.
  • You are endlessly curious. You love spending time in the trenches, meeting users, developing empathy, and understanding needs. You explore trends in and outside your industry and ponder how they might apply to your immediate challenges.
  • You aspire to pragmatism and passion alike. You excel at finding solutions that address user needs & satisfy market constraints. And you love building things people love.
  • You lead with evidence and judgment. You instrument metrics and design experiments to deepen your understanding and guide your next steps. But you also rely on your experience and deep product sense to make sound decisions in the absence of perfect data.
  • You’re a builder at heart. You don’t just define; you prototype, iterate, and tinker. You’re excited to play with new tools – AI-native IDEs, vibe coding tools, & more – that help you bring the vision to life.

What You’ll Do

You will drive product development for our teacher-facing experience, from onboarding and training to their daily planning and teaching. You’ll lead your cross-functional team through a fast-paced iterative loop of discovery, definition, & delivery, collaborating closely with your teammates in Engineering, Design, Curriculum, and Professional Learning. And you’ll continually develop our team’s industry expertise, ensuring we’re tapped into the latest developments in the rapidly evolving education & edtech landscape.

Examples of potential projects this year include:

  • Adaptive classroom pacing: How can we help a teacher craft their overall math instruction plan for the year, and then make informed adjustments based on student performance and observed needs?
  • In-product professional learning: How can we bring skills development and product knowledge directly into the teaching experience, without overwhelming our busy teachers?
  • Customizable content: How do we preserve the efficacy of our crafted materials, while allowing teachers to adapt content to match their personal teaching style, classroom culture, and individual student needs?

Exceptional Candidates May Have:

  • Recent experience developing AI-based products
  • Expertise in data, analytics, and tools for measurement and experimentation
  • Domain knowledge: a background in elementary education or edtech product development

Additional Information

  • Work authorization: Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.; we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time.
  • Salary range: $135K-$165K + equity
  • Key benefits:
    • Private health, dental, vision, and life insurance
    • Paid time off, including a weeklong company shutdown for winter holidays
    • 401K plan
    • Flexibility-first culture with quarterly summits for team collaboration & connection
