Staff Technical Program Manager, Data Engineering

Lead the Future of Data at Pinterest

As a Staff Technical Program Manager, you will spearhead a massive modernization effort across Pinterest's data landscape, transitioning legacy systems to a cutting-edge streaming architecture powered by Kafka, Flink, and Iceberg. This role is designed for a technical leader who views AI not just as a toy, but as a primary collaborator. You will oversee the strategic migration of data pipelines and storage formats while ensuring the entire ecosystem remains cost-effective and high-performing.

An AI-First Operating Model

This is a premier 'vibe coding' position where you will leverage generative AI to eliminate manual toil. Your responsibilities include:

• Prototyping with AI: Use coding assistants to build internal tools and data dashboards through natural language.
• Automated Governance: Deploy AI-first mechanisms to track risks, extract decisions, and synthesize status reports.
• Strategic AI Leadership: Mentor teams on 'safety-by-design' AI usage and prompt engineering to scale program management across the company.

Impact and Growth

You will operate at the intersection of big data infrastructure and the generative AI revolution. By influencing senior leadership and defining the metrics for global data platforms, you'll set the standard for how engineering organizations function in an AI-augmented world. This is your chance to move beyond traditional project management and become a pioneer in AI-assisted technical execution.
