Sr. Technical Program Manager, Data Engineering

The Opportunity

As a Senior TPM within Pinterest's Data Engineering organization, you will spearhead the evolution of a massive data ecosystem. You’ll oversee a multi-quarter modernization effort, transitioning legacy systems to a streaming-first architecture. This isn't just about tracking timelines; it’s about architecting the future of how data moves for millions of users by managing complex migrations across Kafka, Flink, and Iceberg environments.

AI-First Program Management

This role is designed for a new generation of technical leaders who use GenAI as their default operating model. You won't just manage spreadsheets; you will build AI-assisted workflows to handle status synthesis and risk tracking. Pinterest specifically looks for candidates who use 'vibe coding'—leveraging AI coding assistants to prototype custom internal tools, automate high-toil processes, and generate data-driven insights through natural language.

Key Focus Areas

• Infrastructure Evolution: Lead high-stakes migrations from Hive to Iceberg and consolidate workflow orchestration platforms.
• Vibe Prototyping: Rapidly build process helpers and data analysis dashboards using AI prompting rather than manual coding.
• Strategic Execution: Partner with ML and Infrastructure teams to surface technical tradeoffs and drive platform efficiency at scale.
